Vapor Rub

It’s cold and flu season, and if you’re like me your sinuses are kicking your butt.  Darn you old moldy buildings…  Anyways, when you can’t breathe vapor rubs are the way to go.  However, they tend to smell odd.  I mean anybody who gets too close is going to know you have a vapor rub on.  So I experimented around and found a less stinky solution.  This recipe calls for 5 ingredients and you can customize the scent to suit you.  Nobody will sniff you and think, “Oh they must be using Vick’s.”  I’ve got a better smelling solution than that.

Supplies:

Raw Cocoa Butter (or Shea Butter) 2 tbsp

Organic Coconut Oil 5 tbsp

Eucalyptus Essential Oil (or Peppermint Essential Oil) 25 drops or 1/4 tsp

Organic Beeswax 2 tbsp

How To:

Melt down the beeswax first.  Then add the Cocoa Butter and allow to melt.  After it’s melted and mixed well add the coconut oil.  Allow it to melt.  Then add Eucalyptus oil.  DO NOT add more of Eucalyptus oil than recommended.  Add 5 drops of another essential oil of your choosing to achieve the scent you would like.  Pour into and allow to cool down in a container of your choosing.

This rub is great for not only chest congestion but also for congested sinuses.  It’ll help you breathe better and this amount (approximately 4oz) will last a long time.  Try to keep it away from heaters because it can melt if allowed to sit in heat too long.  Try it out and tell me what you think.  Does this rub help you breathe better too?
